What are Speciality Contact Lenses?

Speciality contact lenses are custom-designed lenses for patients suffering from the following conditions:

  • Keratoconus or irregular corneas
  • Severe dry eyes
  • Post-surgical eyes (LASIK & corneal transplants)
  • High astigmatism
  • Presbyopia (age-related near vision loss)
  • Myopia management (managing progressive short-sightedness in children or teens)

Types of speciality contact lenses we offer:

Scleral Lenses

Large, gas-permeable lenses that vault the entire corneal surface, providing excellent comfort and vision. Scleral lenses are ideal for keratoconus or post-surgical corneas as well as severe dry eye.

Rigid Gas Permeable (RGP) Lenses

Smaller hard lenses that offer crisp vision, especially effective for high astigmatism or irregular corneas.

Orthokeratology (Ortho-K) Lenses

Ortho-K is a non-surgical vision correction method that uses bespoke rigid gas-permeable contact lenses worn overnight to gently reshape the superficial corneal surface. Ortho-K lenses correct myopia (nearsightedness), mild to moderate astigmatism, and in some cases hyperopia (farsightedness).

This lens design is especially popular for myopia control in children and adolescents. Studies have shown that Otho-K can slow the progression of nearsightedness, reducing the long-term risk of eye diseases associated with high myopia.
